Ugala Arkestra is an instrumental jamband in the spirit of Can, Sun Ra, Funkadelic and electric Miles Davis. The band includes Bob Hogenelst (Birth Of Joy/Molasses) on drums, Gertjan Gutman (Birth Of Joy/Baskar) on Hammond organ, Erik Harbers (Woost/Automatic Sam) on bass and myself on guitar.

Last summer we played a gig at Waalhalla skatepark in Nijmegen. Our buddy Lars Spijkervet recorded, mixed and mastered everything and we were so happy with the endresult that we decided to release the entire gig (including a soundcheck jam as a bonustrack) on cassette. It’s a limited run of 50 tapes. Cassettes are available now and can be ordered via our Bandcamp page. Go!

We recorded this song late at night at The Magic Barn during the ‘Texino’ sessions. ‘Get Home Soon’ didn’t end up on the final album, but I really can’t remember why we decided that. When I listen to it now it sounds really nice. What I remember of the recording is that we didn’t do any overdubs. It’s the four of us in the same room and we just played the song one or two times. Our drummer Bob plays the slideguitar on this song. I don’t think there’s any more material left of the ‘Texino’ sessions. Enjoy!

Samen met mijn kameraad en voormalig Automatic Sam-kompaan Rense Slings heb ik een nieuwe band opgericht: Tatabánya. Vandaag brengen wij ons debuut ‘Two Bluebottles In A Paper Cone‘ uit op cassette in een gelimiteerde oplage van 50 stuks. Het volledige album is hier te beluisteren en te bestellen. Op 30 september 2017 ben ik samen met Bob Hogenelst (Birth Of Joy/Baskar) en Sebas van Olst (Typhoon/Cool Genius) richting de Galloway Recording Studio getogen om er een dag uit de losse pols wat te jammen. Toen we na een paar uur aan één stuk door improviseren in de controleruimte stonden om de opnames terug te luisteren waren we zo positief verrast dat we besloten hebben om er een echte band uit de stampen en de opnames uit te brengen. ATLANTA zag het levenslicht!

Op vrijdag 15 juni presenteren we ons debuutalbum ‘Flamingo’ op festival Mañana Mañana. ‘Flamingo’ verschijnt in een gelimiteerde oplage van slechts 50 stuks op cassette. Luisteren en een cassette bestellen kan hieronder. Maar nog beter kom je gewoon naar Mañana Mañana om daar een tape te bemachtigen!

MÖTHRA! is a raw improv trio that includes Otto Kokke (Dead Neanderthals / MNHM), Ries Doms (The Kik / Hooghwater) and me. These two albums were recorded a while ago, but it took us some time to finish them.
